Still a bit tired from our Poker Night yesterday. Once a month, I host it at the BDX Office in LA.

A bunch of founders, creatives, marketers, friends: all around good people. Just good vibes, pizza, some friendly competition, and good conversations.

At one of those nights I had a convo that really got me thinking. What does a client actually ask themselves before hiring you?

Thoughts

Most people think it’s stuff like:

  • “Do they have experience?”
  • “How’s their pricing?”

But honestly?
It’s usually these 4 questions:

  1. Do I trust the person?
    Not the deck. Not the numbers. The person.
  2. Do I trust their method?
    Even if it’s bold. Especially if it’s bold.
  3. Do I trust their company?
    Will the team deliver when it counts?
  4. Do I trust myself to make this call?
    The toughest one.
    Because if you don’t trust your own gut – nothing else matters.

So next time you’re in a pitch, ask yourself:
Would you trust you with half a million?
If the answer’s yes – act like it.
