Hello,
This week I’m in Mammoth speaking at the German American Business Summit.

It’s my first time here and the conversations have been sharp… innovation, media shifts, brand building. A lot of smart operators in the room.
One theme keeps coming up: long-form is back.
YouTube is growing on TV screens. Podcasts are getting longer. Retention + depth to your content matters more than ever!
But I think most people are still missing the real strategy:
Long-form builds depth.
Short-form drives discovery.
Landman as an example.
At its core, it’s long-form storytelling. High-stakes drama. Character arcs… you get the point. A very specific cultural setting in West Texas. That’s what builds emotional investment.

But the reason it feels culturally bigger than “just a show” is what happens outside the episodes:
- Behind-the-scenes clips.
- Actor moments.
- On-set content.
- Social reactions.
It creates a sense of relevance for the audience. They’re not just watching the story, they feel connected to it. The line between viewer and participant starts to blur.
And that’s the real goal.
When entertainment makes people feel like they’re part of something culturally significant, they move from passive consumption to physical action. They buy merch, visit the sets, engage in social content.
The story moves from:
streaming platform → to social media → to physical behavior.
And this is exactly how brands should think about YouTube in 2026.
You don’t win by just posting long-form.
You win by building one strong long-form asset. Then intentionally extracting short-form from it.
